On our second full day on the island, we took a 4x4 tour. We can highly recommend the tour. It is a rough ride, but it was a lot of fun. Our guide was really fun, and made the trip truly enjoyable.

Our guide for the 4x4, Carlos. He was very knowledgeable, and was a lot of fun. He even put up with having his picture taken!

Our first stop on the tour was a place where crabs hang out. These things are large. We threw a leaf down on the ground, and the battle was on. I wouldn't have wanted to be the leaf.

The tour basically took us around the entire island, with periodic trips up incredibly steep slopes to outstanding viewpoints of the lagoon. This is a picture of Goranka with the lagoon and a motu in the background.

This is a picture of the two of us with the lagoon and the motus in the background. Carlos was kind enough to take this for us (along with others - he really was a great guy).

I really love this photo, although I can't tell you why. I guess it reminds me of the tranquility of the place.

This is a shot that shows Hotel Bora Bora, and the part of the lagoon that is supposed to be very good for snorkeling. The dark areas are all reef, and are teaming with fish.

A nice shot of some of the smaller motus.
