Puerto Rico - May 2004

The only trip outside of the hotel we took during this visit to Puerto Rico was to El Yunque, the Caribbean National Forest. It's a tropical rain forest that is about 45 minutes southeast of San Juan. Not shockingly, it was a bit rainy the day we went, but we still enjoyed it and went for a hike (the forest canopy is so think that it kept us dry from the rain - you get wet from sweat instead...).

Goranka, with Mt Britton and El Yunque peaks in the background. This was taken from the Yokahu tower.

This was taken at the trailhead for the Big Tree Trail. These clouds had just attempted to dump water on us, but the Big Trees on the trail kept us dry. Take that, rain clouds!

Another shot of the peaks from Yokahu tower. Jay really liked the way the sunlight was highlighting the middle peak (he thinks it's either Mt. Britton or El Yunque peak).

This was taken from the road near La Coca Falls. We just happened to look up and see these flowers in the trees above the road.
